The Mountain Run DGC players are known as "The Jesters" ("why?" you ask? I'll tell you later), and this is our mascot, Hubert. Hubert is a Jester, too, and he loves disc golf.
The word jest comes from Middle English gest, "a narrative of exploits" or a "story of great deeds", which is fitting for a group of disc golfers who like to share stories of their exploits on the course.
You'll notice Hubert's jester's hat has five circles on top, representing, of course, disc golf discs, but each also representing one of the five counties within the Virginia Piedmont, where Hubert, and the Mountain Run DGC, hopes to see disc golf grow and flourish in the very near future.
The original role of a jester in society was as a storyteller. The members of Mountain Run Disc Golf Club hope to be able to tell the story of how disc golf came to this area in the year 2016!
Now that you've met Hubert, he has something to share with you...
